Mines of the East Fork offers fascinating accounts of the many mini-gold rushes ("mini" compared to the California Gold Rush upon Sutter Mill five years previously miles north in the Sierra Nevada foothills) that occurred along the East Fork of the San Gabriel River beginning in and continuing sporadically well into the 20th century.

i got this book after i had driven all the way up san gabriel canyon to crystal lake and had breakfast at the restaurant there, and found that the man who owned it had lost his copy. or it might be he lost a copy of Mines of the east fork book, but i don;t think that one has crystal lake so he probably did lose this one/5(7).
